The Truth About Marta
About - Marta Sanders-Cooper
Marta met her husband, Gordon Cooper, a British
Navy-man, on dry land in New York City and settled
into family life with their two daughters, Adrienne &
Alexay, on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.

Through her years as a full-time mother, Marta
continued to sing it out at the various cabaret venues
throughout the city, and even returned to acting for a
bit, both on stage and screen.

Later in the ‘90s with NYC’s dwindling venues for
cabaret leaving “road-work” as the only consistent
opportunity to sing, Marta parlayed her skills as a
performer in other directions. For a period she had her
own weekly radio show “The Marta Sanders Show” on
local AM station WLIR, featuring Sanders’ interviews
of singers and performers. Better still, was when
Marta ventured in to the craft of professional tour
guiding. Guiding is perfect work for an entertainer who
loves the interaction with a cabaret audience, and
loves NYC.

But guiding many of NYC’s 50 million visitors did not
turn Marta in to a homebody. On the contrary, she
continued to travel, sometimes as Mrs. Cooper with
her Brit husband to business locations around the
World: Argentina, Brazil, South Africa, India, Hong
Kong and Singapore, and sometimes as Marta Cooper
on guiding conventions in Europe, China, Australia
and the USA.
Marta was born in Austin, Texas, the second
of five children in a family that loved to
perform. Her father's career, devoted
mostly to education and social service
activities, required relocating the family
frequently throughout the Northeast and
Midwest, and finally to South America. It
was there that Marta's life in music began.
From Columbia to Argentina, Marta was
moved and inspired by the soul of the Latin
music, which carried on with her and is
reflected in her first album,
Corazon Del

A fiercely independent Marta moved to New
York City and attended American Music and
Dramatic Academy. Following her
graduation she found work on stage and in
the cabarets both as a solo entertainer and
band member. She even had a run in
Best Little Whorehouse in
. Shortly after, she took her big bold
voice and knockout stage presence to the
seas, as she honed her craft on cruise ships
and hotel show rooms through the
Caribbean and Central America.
